2011 Spectacle Island 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run
Saturday, June 18, 2011
Spectacle Island, Boston Harbor
Under sunny skies and cool ocean breezes, over 300 runners completed the first annual Spectacle Island 5K and Family Fun Run on Saturday, June 18. Funds generated from the 5K will subsidize free ferry rides for under-served children visiting the Boston Harbor Islands this summer. Supported by the Hingham Shipyard Marinas, the race was organized by New England Event Management.
The Boston Harbor Islands national park has been designated an official Let's Move Outside! Junior ranger program, led by First lady Michelle Obama, established to end childhood obesity. Let's Move Outside! activities and events are being held all summer long, visit
